Happy Birthday to ME!!

A few days ago (August 16) I celebrated my birthday. Believe it or not, I turned 29!!! I don't feel 29 and people tell me I don't look it either so I guess that's a good thing. I have always loved celebrating my birthday and I let everybody around me know it. Ask my family or Miguel if you don't believe me, I have been talking about it for weeks!! This year was a lot of fun, I spent the whole weekend with Miguel which if you know us at all you know that we rarely have weekends to spend together.
It all started at midnight when I was in bed reading some intellectually stimulating nursing books when Miguel came in and said, "Happy Birthday" and gave me a nicely wrapped present in a lovely pink Victoria Secret bag. I opened it and inside were too very nice bras!!! I didn't even ask for this. You must know that when I ask Miguel to go into VS with me he hates it and would prefer waiting outside. He told me he got my size and when into the store, by himself and asked a girl to help him. (Sounds like something my dad would do when shopping for my mom) Of course the sales girl picks out the most expensive bra (or I assume that was the case) and Miguel takes two!! Needless to say, I am not at all disappointed, they fit great and are wonderful!!! I usually buy the cheaper bras from other stores (to remain nameless) but now I may never go back. Thanks Miguel!!
After a lot of debating back and forth on what to do on my birthday we decided to go shopping and out to dinner. There is not much I would rather do than go shopping and the only day I can get Miguel to go with me and pretend like he is having fun is on my birthday. I really do think he had a good time though.

Our first stop was IKEA. I love that place!! We ended up buying a shelving unit to put in our laundry room. Miguel actually picked it out. We also ended up leaving with a few other smalls things such as a plant and some kitchen utensils. It's a rule, you can't leave IKEA empty handed.

Our second stop was Cafe Rio for lunch. It was a toss up between Cafe Rio and Zuppas and Cafe Rio won. This is a horrible picture because Miguel doesn't count to three before taking the picture. I wasn't at all ready!

Our next stop was the mall. I ended up getting some necessities such as shampoo and conditioner, but I also went shopping at Down East and got a cute skirt and top. Of course Miguel didn't participate in this shopping extravaganza and waited for me outside of the store. He did note while he was waiting and people watching that someday when we have kids if he has a girl he will never go shopping with her. He said he noticed that all girls, young or old are very easily distracted in the mall and want to see everything that looks interesting and they want it all too. All I could do was laugh. He does have a good point.
Our next stop was Sam's Club. I didn't get a picture of this because it wasn't all that exciting. We decided to go for just the necessities. After that we went home and dropped off our food and then we were on to our next adventure. We went to Fashion Place mall. One mall wasn't good enough so we had to go to another. Miguel wanted to buy me another present, how could I resist? After a little shopping around we went to Foot Locker and I have been wanting some of the Nike Shox shoes and Miguel said he would buy me some. Wow, what a nice guy!!! I got these special running shoes to assist with my marathon training. I know they are going to make running so much easier!! Haha!! Now I really have to do it and I have these cute shoes to motivate me. :)

Oh yes, Miguel loves Ross so after the mall we had to include a trip to Ross. Here is a picture of Miguel trying on some clothes...

We then went home and took a break before going to dinner. We went to dinner at Tepanyaki. It is the place where they cook the food in front of you. I love it! Here is a not so great picture of us waiting for our table. We were so full after dinner we could barely move. We also had tonz of leftovers.

After dinner we came across this interesting vehicle at Jordan Landing. They called it a Monstor Bus. They were giving rides for $5 and the money went to the Children's Miracle Network. It looked like a crazy ride!! We didn't ride it though.

We then came home and watched The Notebook. What a great movie!!

My birthday continued on Sunday when we went to dinner with my family at Five Guys Burger and Fries. After that we went to my parents house and had ice cream cake. I have been wanting and ice cream cake for quite some time now, thanks mom!!! I also got a really cute green purse which I have also been wanting for quite a while. My mom picked it out and I love it! Thanks mom!!

This picture doesn't really do it justice, you have to come see it in person.

Thanks to my family and Miguel for making my birthday weeked so much fun!!

We figure if we start now by the time April comes around we should be ready. We haven't come up with a training program yet so if you have any ideas let us know. I am very excited!! Anybody that wants to join in please do, the more motivation the better!!

Happy Anniversary...almost!

Believe it or not we have almost been married a year. We had dinner at my parents house a couple weeks ago and decided to break out our cake since we were all together and we will be celebrating our actual anniversary in Vegas. We froze the top of our cake after the wedding and haven't seen it since. Here it is!! It was actually very good!

New Puppy

A few weeks ago my parents got a new dog. He is half Maltese and half Bichon. He is very cute and very playful. We have all been trying to come with a name for weeks now and can't agree on anything. I think my parents have finally decided on Kobe. We'll see if it sticks.

It's been a while...

I haven't posted for a while. I have had a swarm of tests the past few weeks so posting a blog has been the last thing on my mind. Now, as I sit here on a Friday night I have decided to update you on our lives the past couple of weeks. I have made several posts so read below and please send a comment or two!!

Free Burrito Night at Chipotle!!

For those of you that know us well at all, you know that we LOVE Chipotle and eat there quite often. Well, this past Friday it was date night at Chipotle and they were giving away free food. Of course we had to go!! Here are a couple pictures of us way too full to even move!! We actually rode our bikes to Chipotle so we had to sit there for quite a while to let our food digest. Ahhh, it was SO good!!

Race for the Cure 2008

It is a tradition that we go to the Race for the Cure every year. (we only walked, but next year we are planning on running). Here we are this year! This is my mom (left) and her friend Judi (right).
This is Miguel being a dork eating an orange. I think this is right before I won a pair of New Balance shoes. Wahooo!!

Our Trip to the Zoo!

A couple weeks ago we went to the zoo. I hadn't been for a long time, it was kind of fun. My favorite part of the zoo was the monkey's. These pictures are a few of the animals we saw.

What is he doing??

That's right, Miguel is polishing his bike. He spent about 45 minutes scrubbing, shining and perfecting. You may laugh, but the funny thing is that this isn't even his favorite bike. He has a fancy yellow bike that sits on a shrine in our apartment. He told me that when he cleans this bike it will take about 2 hours!! Miguel loves his bikes, both of them, but the yellow one is his pride and joy. If we ever lived in a place where we didn't have room for it, I would probably go before the bike. I love that he has this hobby and I wish he had more time to ride. I just thought it was so funny when I walked in and saw him cleaning/polishing his bike!

Fat, Out of Shape and Frustrated!!

This is something kind of personal for me and I don't like to talk about it much, but here it goes. I've been talking for weeks, even months now about how I want and need to lose some weight. This weekend I think I have finally realized that it is a necessity. Growing up I used to dance 4 or 5 times a week for 4 or 5 hours each day so I never really had to worry about exercising or anything because I was definitely getting the workout I needed. For the past few years I have really been struggling with eating too much and never wanting to exercise. I have been busy, lazy and just not wanting to do it. I feel like I have tried to lose the weight by eating better, joining weight watchers and a little bit of exercising here and there. The truth is I haven't tried hard enough, I know I can try harder and I will!! I know you may be thinking that I don't really need to lose weight because that is what a lot of people tell me and probably what I have been telling myself. I have been told by my doctor that I need to lose a little. I know I would feel better about myself as well. A few years ago I found out I have some thyroid problems and that is supposed to make it harder to lose the weight, which may be part of the problem, who knows. Next April I would like to run in either the half or full marathon. I have been trying to run for the past couple months and I am horrible!! I have no endurance whatsoever!!! This is one of my goals and I'm going to try my hardest and not give up. I also just want to be healthier and have more energy. So, starting tomorrow, April 14 I am turning over a new life. I am going to stop drinking soda and also stop my weekly tan iced mocha for a few weeks to see if either of these things make a difference on how I feel. This is going to be hard and I may be grouchy this week, but it will be worth it. I know diet soda isn't THAT bad for you, but I just want to stop for a while and see how I feel. I am also going to make regular trips to the gym or go for a walk or run outside or even do a workout DVD in the privacy of my own home. My time is few and far between with school every night and working but I am going to make this work. I am going to eat better and watch my portion sizes, which I think is one of my biggest issues. Thank you all for listening to me vent about this stupid weight issue that has been bothering me for months now. I am excited to lose a few pounds and go out to the pool feeling comfortable this summer. I love you all!! Thanks for your support!!

School starts on Monday!!

Judging by the nursing titles you can probably guess that all these books are mine. What you might be surprised to know is that not only are they all mine, but they are ALL for the 3 classes I am taking next quarter. School for me starts on Monday and these are all the books I am going to be studying, no more free time for me. I am taking Microbiology, Nutrition and Nursing Fundamentals. I am going to be going to school Monday - Thursday nights...crazy!!! You thought Miguel and I never saw each other before, now it's going to be even worse. We are going to have to plan our lives out and schedule everything. Besides the amount of books I am going to be studying and not being able to see Miguel as much, I am very excited for the upcoming quarter. It is getting more interesting and we're now finally getting into the nursing stuff, i'm going to learn a lot!! It's going to take a lot of time, dedication and organization on my part, but I am motivated and I know I can do it. Wish me luck!!

Easter

Easter came way too early this year, I wasn't quite ready. For the past few years we haven't really done much on Easter so I wanted to do something this year. I made a reservation for brunch at Market Street Grill. My mom was out of town so it was me, Miguel and my dad that enjoyed the festivities. It was actually nice to get out and do something different for a change. I had the salmon and eggs benedict, it was delicious!! I have taken a new liking for fish...I know...strange. I took my camera along and had good intentions to take pictures, but like always I either forget or there is nobody around to take our picture. When Miguel and I got back to our apartment we set the camera on the timer and got a few snap shots. Other than that our day consisted of cleaning, laundry and relaxing. I hope you all had a very Happy Easter!!!
