Jackson

I am a little late at posting this, but about a month ago Jacob and I went to Wyoming with some family. Unfortunately Miguel had to stay home and work. I am glad that Jacob and I were able to go though. We stayed at Colter Bay. It is about an hour outside of Jackson Hole.

I Wish....BUT, I'm Thankful...

I wish I could stay home with Jacob everyday. I hate leaving him home every morning and I know he hates me leaving. :) Don't get me wrong, working is great and I might go crazy without it. I think every mom needs a break, a time to talk to adults and a time to just get away. I just wish my schedule could be a little different and I could have more time with my cute baby boy. BUT, I am thankful that I do have a job and I have a healthy baby boy that I can come home to every night. There are many people out there that don't have jobs that want them or maybe they are unable to work and really need too. I am also thankful that Miguel and I can work our schedules out for the most part and Jacob only has to have a babysitter once a week..at least for now.

I wish that I had more money or money in general. It seems everything has hit all at once from medical bills, student loans and other bills. It's making me kind of crazy and stressed. Why can't I just win the lottery or something and pay it all off? Is that too much to ask? I wish I could pass my stupid test so that I could get a nursing job and make more and work different hours. That would solve all my problems. BUT, I am thankful that I have a roof over my head, food on the table and am able to provide for my family. Sure things are rough, but we have the necessities and we have each other. The nursing job will come with time, hopefully a shorter time, rather than longer, but I will be thankful I have a job for the time being.

I guess all of my wishes and thankfuls tie into eachother. I guess I should just be thankful for what I do have. I am lucky. I have a wonderful husband and cute little boy, what more could a girl ask for?

Swimming

We took Jacob to the swimming pool for the first time. It turned out to be pretty quick because it was a little breezy and the water was a little cold. We will definitely have to try it again on a warmer day. I think he's going to like it.

3 Months

On June 10 Jacob turned 3 months...hard to believe right? He is getting so big! It's hard to believe that 3 months ago he weighed only 5 lbs.

At 3 months Jacob...

Love, Mommy and Daddy

Mother's Day

This year was my first Mother's Day. It was kind of weird to think that I now have a wonderful little boy and I am a mommy! Crazy!! Miguel had to work during the day on Mother's Day so Jacob and I hung out and ran a few errands. That night we had a BBQ with my mom, dad and Grandma. Overall, I think it was a pretty good day.

Back to the Real World.

Tomorrow I go back to work. My 12 weeks off sure went by fast. I think it's kind of a bittersweet time. I want to go back to work to see everyone and get back into some sort of a routine again. However, I am sad to leave Jacob and Miguel. Miguel and I are lucky enough to be able to work out our schedules...for now, so that we work opposite times. Of course this means Miguel and I won't see much of each other, but it also means Jacob is in good hands with both of us. It will for sure be an adjustment for all of us, but I think it will work out. We may have to get used not sleeping much until Jacob decides to cooperate, but that's ok.

Jacob,
Mommy has to go back to work tomorrow. I am going to miss you, but I know you will play hard and have lots of fun with daddy, make sure you give him a few breaks. I will be home to hang out with you at night. I love you so much and will be thinking about you all day!!

Miguel,
Of course you know I go back to work tomorrow so our schedules will change a little, but we can handle it. We've had a crazy past few months. We have been through so much, difficult times and happy times that have brought us closer together. Thank you for all of your love and support through all of this, I don't think I would have survived without you. I hope you have fun with Jacob and I hope he gives you a break every once in a while. I love you so much!

This is when we were going home from the hospital. I think it's time for a new family picture.

Third time is a charm...

The results are in and I have failed the NCLEX for the second time. I am definitely not proud of this and am actually a little embarassed by it. For those of you that aren't nurses or have never taken this test, it is awful! It is all computerized and you could have anywhere from 75 to 265 questions, the computer just stops when it decides that you have passed or failed based on the questions you answer correctly. It's quite stressful and no fun at all!! I am sad, very sad that I have to keep studying and try again. When I first got my results I was devistated...how could I fail twice? How can all my classmates have jobs and I am still try to pass the damn test? How can this happen to me? Those were just a few of the thoughts I was having. It took me a few hours of pouting and one big hug from Jacob to realize that I am not going to give up. It's been a rough past few months with being in the hospital, bed rest, having Jacob in the hospital and then the adjustments of having a new baby at home. So, I am blaming my failures on the stresses that have been going on in my life. I would not change any of it! I have always been told my many that 'Everything Happens for a Reason' so whatever it is, there is a reason that I am supposed to take this test for a third time. I have been trying to decide what the best way is to go about preparing for this test again and I've decided I am going to create a study schedule and stick to it. Some say that studying doesn't even help for this test, but I know it's not going to hurt. I am going to review the info and do as many practice questions as I can. I have to wait a certain amount of days before I can take the test again, so it won't be in the immediate future. The date of my test will not be announced, I want to do this on my own and I'll let you know when I'm finished. I thank you all for your support. If anybody has any fabulous advice for the NCLEX, I am definitely open to anything. For now, I am going to stay positive and not give up. I CAN DO IT!!

Bath Time!

Jacob loves his bath

First Play Date

Jacob had his first play date with his friend Campbell. She is about 3 1/2 months old. I would like to say that Jacob enjoyed meeting his new friend, but he was so overwhelmed he slept the entire time. I'm pretty sure Campbell had a good time though. :)

Newborn/1 Month Pictures

Jacob had his first photo shoot. He did a great job and the pictures turned out so cute. I absolutely love them!! For now, you can look at them HERE. Once I get the images I will post them. Thanks so much Tracy!

1 Month

I am a little late at posting this, but Jacob is now 1 month old. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. He's still a little guy, but he's growing fast!

At 1 month Jacob...
-weighs just over 6 lbs
-wears newborn diapers
-wears newborn clothes (some are still a little big)
-eats about 2oz of milk every 3-4 hours
-smiles (even if it is just gas)
-is a little wiggle worm
-hates getting his diaper changed
-has his nights mixed up with his days
-loves bath time, for the most part
-loves his mommy and daddy :)

We love you little guy, even if you do keep us up all night. I still love all your cute facial expressions, your cute little hands and feet and everything about you. You are our little angel.

The time has come...

I have to go back to work in 3 weeks! I am sad that half of my leave had to be on bed rest and I wasn't able to spend the whole time with Jacob. However, I am thankful that I was able to be on bed rest and take care of baby Jacob while he was inside so that he wasn't born at 29 weeks.

I am wondering if anybody knows of a good day care or knows of anybody that would be willing to watch Jacob a few days a week. For the first month or so we are able to work it out so that he can stay home with Miguel during the day while he is still little and growing. We will eventually have to get him into a day care though. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. :)

Diaper Bags

I guess this is a funny thing to post about, but I want some advice. Which diaper bag do you like? Or, should I go with something more plain. :)

3 week appointment.

Jacob had his 3 week appointment. Usually it's a 2 week appointment, but since we were in the hospital at 2 weeks the doctor saw him at 3 weeks, a few days after we came home.
Weight: 5lbs 14 ounces - 1 percentile
Height: 18.4 inches - 0 percentile
Head Circumference: 13.0 inches - 0 percentile
The doctor says he is doing great and gaining weight as he should, about an ounce a day at this point. He is still a tiny little guy though.
Keep up the good work Jacob!!

Jacob comes home!

On Tuesday, March 30 Jacob came home. We are so happy to finally have him home. We love little Jacob so much. Welcome Home Jacob!

All ready to go home. His outfit is a little big!
So sleepy...

In his car seat ready to go. We had to go home with the car bed because he is still too small for his regular car seat and didn't pass the car seat test. :(

Home!

All ready for bed, ready to sleep in his crib for the first time. Clearly he is excited.

Almost time to come home

Jacob, it's almost time for you to come home! Over the past week you have graduated from the isolette and moved into an open crib, you are gaining weight (as of today you are at 5lbs 9oz) and just this past weekend you have started eating more by breast feeding and bottle feeding and the nurse pulled your tube tonight. We are so proud of you for accomplishing so many things and growing and staying strong so that you can come home. We can't wait! We love you baby!

Some of my favorite things this week...

I love that you have found your hands. I love how you grab on to things, the blanket, your binkie, my hands and I even found you trying to pull that tube out a few times.

I love that you are awake more and more each day.

I love that you now recognize my voice and know who your mommy and daddy are.

I love how cute you are.

I love that you will be home with us really soon.
